Community Spotlight: Crime Victim Center of Erie County
In the heart of Erie County, a quiet but powerful force has been working for over five decades to support survivors of crime: the Crime Victim Center (CVC). Founded in 1973 by Joan Martin, the agency began as the Erie County Rape Crisis Center after Martin's family member survived a sexual assault. With no services available at the time, Martin set out to build the support network her family needed but could not find.

Community Spotlight: NAMI of Erie County PA
Since its founding in 1984 by David and Joanne Cooper, Don and Carol Shaper, and Jim and Jeanne Hughes, NAMI of Erie County has worked to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment for individuals and families affected by mental illness. What began as a grassroots effort to offer empathy and understanding has grown into a full-fledged countywide resource hub dedicated to support, education, and advocacy.

32nd Annual Erie Pride Picnic: Joining Together at Presque Isle

Compton's Table Annual Gala Art Auction
Compton's Table, a local nonprofit committed to uplifting Northwestern Pennsylvania's queer community, is putting out a call to LGBTQIA2+ artists for its upcoming Gala Art Auction this October. Open exclusively to queer-identifying artists, the auction will serve as a centerpiece of the organization's annual fundraising gala, spotlighting original artwork that celebrates queer creativity and expression. Participating artists may submit up to five original pieces in a variety of media. Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, woodwork, and mixed media are all welcome.

Erie Queer Community's Food Drive a Resounding Success
The Erie Queer Community came together on Saturday, May 10, and once again showed the strength of unity, compassion, and grassroots care. The Second Harvest Food Drive, held at Central Outreach Wellness Center, was a heartfelt success, gathering 676 pounds of non-perishable food plus monetary donations for local families in need.

Erie Queer Community Unites for Second Harvest Food Drive
On Saturday, May 10, from 11 AM to 1 PM, the Erie Queer Community will come together once again to support local families through their Second Harvest Food Drive. Hosted at Central Outreach Wellness Center, located at 3104 State St, Erie, PA, this meaningful event invites all members of the community to donate non-perishable food items. All donations will remain local and be distributed by the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW Pennsylvania, ensuring that the support stays within our region.

Community Mourns Beloved Buffalo Gay Couple
In a tragic incident that has deeply affected Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood, beloved couple Michael "Mickey" Harmon, 40, and Jordan Celotto, 37, were found dead in their home on March 4. After one of them failed to show up for work, a friend checked in on them, encountered a man holding a knife inside the house, and immediately called 911.
Compton's Table Awarded Grant from Erie Community Foundation's LGBTQ+ Fund
Compton's Table, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ youth, has been awarded a grant from the Erie Community Foundation LGBT Fund. This funding will enhance the organization's True North program, strengthen its formal teaching initiative, and aid in the development of a new hybrid program to provide support in schools.
Day of (No) Silence 2025: Amplifying LGBTQ+ Voices
For years, the GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) Day of Silence was a way for students and allies to bring attention to the silencing of LGBTQ+ voices. But in 2024, the movement took a bold new turn transforming its longstanding Day of Silence into the Day of (No) Silence. Instead of staying silent, participants are now encouraged to speak up, be loud, and take action against the increasing marginalization of LGBTQ+ individuals, especially transgender and nonbinary people. This year, the Day of (No) Silence falls on April 4, 2025, and it's all about making noise in the face of discrimination. GLSEN is calling on students, educators, and allies to raise awareness, share stories, and push for change.

Erie Queer Community Unites for Successful Boot & Coat Drive
On Saturday, February 8, the Erie Queer Community came together in a powerful display of generosity and solidarity, hosting a Boots & Coat Drive to support Community Shelter Services of Erie, PA. Volunteers from local LGBTQ+ organizations collected several carloads of new and gently used winter clothing, including coats and boots, ensuring that those in need have access to essential cold-weather gear. In addition to clothing donations, the drive also collected ground coffee a simple but meaningful comfort for those facing the harsh Erie winter.
