National Coming Out Day: Erie Family Photo
by Bobbie Fenno
2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Erie's first Family Photo, and Erie Gay News (EGN) is inviting YOU to be part of this historic moment. On National Coming Out Day, Saturday, October 11, 2025, the LGBTQ+ community and allies will gather on the steps of the Erie County Courthouse from 11 AM to 1 PM to celebrate three decades of strength, diversity, and progress.
At the heart of the celebration is the Family Photo, taken at noon. This will be a powerful and unforgettable visual testament to our resilience, unity, and pride. To honor this milestone, a professional photographer will capture not only the iconic group photo but also portraits of organizations and groups highlighting their impact in our region.
For the first time in its history, EGN will publish a full-color special edition, featuring these vibrant images as a lasting tribute to the people and organizations who have shaped Erie's LGBTQ+ movement.
We want YOU there! Bring your friends, your colors, and your pride, and help us show the world just how strong, diverse, and united our community truly is!
Help Make It Happen
To make this special anniversary possible, EGN is also seeking sponsors to help cover the costs of the photographer and printing the color edition. Sponsorship is an opportunity to both support the community and gain visibility in this historic publication.
