Sweet Success: The Cupcake Showdown Brings Support for Mental Health
By Bobbie Fenno
The Great Cupcake Showdown returned to Erie on May 2 for its second year, bringing the community together for an afternoon of sweets and support for mental health. Hosted by Journey: Healing Together (201 W 11th St, Erie, PA 16501), the event invited attendees to sample a wide variety of creative cupcakes while raising awareness and funds for local mental health and wellness programs.
From snickerdoodle to strawberry cheesecake to lemon blueberry and many more flavors, the event featured cupcakes from home bakers, professional bakers, and even kid bakers. Each participant brought their best creations for guests to taste and vote on in two categories: Best Flavor and Best Decoration. The friendly competition showcased both impressive baking skills and artistic cupcake designs.
In addition to the cupcake tasting, attendees enjoyed raffle baskets, 50/50, and time to connect with others who support mental health initiatives in the Erie community. The event offered a fun, welcoming atmosphere where people could enjoy sweet treats while supporting an important cause.
Overall, the afternoon was a success, highlighting the creativity of local bakers and the strong community support for mental health awareness. The Great Cupcake Showdown once again proved that a little sweetness can go a long way in bringing people together for a meaningful mission.
