Erie Queer Community Unites for Second Harvest Food Drive
By Bobbie Fenno
On Saturday, May 10, from 11 AM to 1 PM, the Erie Queer Community will come together once again to support local families through their Second Harvest Food Drive. Hosted at Central Outreach Wellness Center, located at 3104 State St, Erie, PA, this meaningful event invites all members of the community to donate non-perishable food items. All donations will remain local and be distributed by the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW Pennsylvania, ensuring that the support stays within our region.
This food drive is more than just a donation event, it's a reflection of the community's ongoing commitment to mutual aid and compassion. Participating groups include:
- Aging With Pride,
- Ascend Climbing / Queer Scouts
- Bears Do Dinner
- Central Outreach Wellness Center
- Compton's Table
- Erie Gay News
- Family Services of NW PA
- Free Mom Hugs
- Journey: Healing Together
- LBT Women of Erie
- NW PA Pride Alliance
- Pennsylvania Equality Project
- TransFamily of NW PA
- Wabtec's Pride ERG
- Werner Books & Coffee
- Whee! Studios
- Yellow Brick Roads
- Zone Dance Club
This initiative follows other recent donation drives held by the Erie Queer Community, such as the Coat & Boot Drive held earlier this year to benefit Community Shelter Services of Erie. These regular drives are an important part of how local LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies show care for one another and the broader community.
Stay tuned for future donation drives, and in the meantime, gather your canned goods and pantry items and join this powerful effort to uplift our neighbors. Every item helps. Every voice matters.
