Buffalo United Artists Presents The Gentleman Caller Oct 27-Nov 12

Buffalo United Artists Presents The Gentleman Caller Oct 27-Nov 12
BUFFALO UNITED ARTISTS presents, 'THE GENTLEMAN CALLER' by Philip Dawkins. Tennessee Williams and William Inge today are recognized as two of the greatest American playwrights, whose work irrevocably altered the theatrical and social landscapes.  In 1944, however, neither had achieved anything like genuine success.  As flamboyant genius Williams (played by MATT RITTLER) prepares for the world premiere of his play The Gentleman Caller - to become The Glass Menagerie - self-loathing Inge (played by JONATHAN BECKNER) struggles through his job as a theatre critic, denying his true wish to be writing plays.  Based on real-life but closed-door encounters, reconstructed from troves of comments (and elisions) by each man about their relationship, PHILIP DAWKINS gorgeously envisions what might have taken place during those early-career meetings.

Buffalo United Artists proudly presents Silence! The Musical

Buffalo United Artists proudly presents Silence! The Musical
Based on the 1991 Oscar winning film The Silence of the Lambs, rookie FBI agent Clarice Starling (Maria Droz) musically matches wits and quips with the brilliant but insane Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Jimmy Janowski) in order to catch the transvestite serial killer known as Buffalo Bill (Michael Seitz). Clarice faces her own demons and daddy complex while racing the clock to unlock Lecter's lewd clues before another full figured co-ed is skinned by Buffalo Bill. This gleefully raunchy camp musical adaptation is not for the faint of heart. This performance contains nudity, adult situations and lot of cleverly strung together filthy words with a surprising amount of musicality. Silence! The Musical was named 2005 Outstanding Musical at the New York International Fringe Festival and continued in a 2011 Off-Broadway production which was named one of TIME magazine's "Top 10 Musicals and Plays of 2011". The musical has played in London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tampa and Chicago. Silence! Buffalo United Artists proudly presents the return of Charles Busch's CLEOPATRA

Buffalo United Artists proudly presents the return of Charles Busch's CLEOPATRA
Buffalo United Artists presents the retun of Charles Busch's CLEOPATRA, for 6 shows only. The turbulent life of Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile, is told, viewed through the outrageous comic lens of master parodist Charles Busch.  Evoking both 1930's Hollywood epics and the grand 19th Century romantic theatre of Sarah Bernhardt, this version of the life of the ill-fated Egyptian Queen takes her from her teenage seduction of the Roman leader Julius Caesar through her volatile tragic romance with Marc Antony and to her ultimate death.  Charles Busch's Cleopatra has echoes of the many great stars that have played her on stage and on film, such as Claudette Colbert, Elizabeth Taylor, Vivien Leigh and several who thankfully didn't, including Jean Harlow, Barbara Stanwyck and Mae West. Charles Busch's CLEOPATRA is directed by Todd Warfield and stars Jimmy Janowski, Bebe Bvlgari, Maria Droz, Timothy Patrick Finnegan, Adam Hayes, Guy Tomassi, and Michael Seitz. Performances are Saturday, July 8th at 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 9th at 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 14th at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15th at 4:00 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, July 16th at 7:00 p.m. at Alleyway Theatre – Main Stage, One Curtain Up Alley, Buffalo NY.
