NW PA Pride Alliance invites you to participate as a table at this year's Pride Fest! The event will be held on Saturday, June 30 from 1 to 4 PM in Perry Square at W. 6th and State, Erie PA. Set-up will begin at 11AM. PLEASE NOTE: step off for the parade and the start of Pride Fest are 1 hour earlier this year than previous years! All tables are expected to remain set up until the end of the festival. March is Women's History Month, and the Mercy Center for Women celebrates by honoring 11 women this year. The presentation is at Mary D'Angelo Performing Arts Center at Mercyhurst University on Tuesday, March 27, at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Founder and president of TransFamily of NWPA Caitlyn Strohmeyer was among those being recognized. Second Circuit Says Sexual Orientation Discrimination is Prohibited Under Title VII of the Federal Civil Rights Act

February 26, 2018 - Today, the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit determined that under Title VII of the federal Civil Rights Act, sexual orientation discrimination is discrimination "because of... sex." The ruling in Zarda v. Altitude Express reverses existing precedent in the Second Circuit barring lesbian and gay people from bringing employment discrimination claims under Title VII when they are targeted at work for their sexual orientation.

Banning Transgender Service is Unconstitutional

SAN FRANCISCO, CA –Palm Center Director Aaron Belkin released the following statement about the Pentagon's forthcoming plan to implement President Trump's transgender ban: "On Aug. 25, 2017, President Trump directed Defense Secretary Mattis to reinstate a full ban on transgender troops, setting a Feb. 21, 2018 deadline for an implementation plan. As Sec. Mattis prepares to release the road map for implementing President Trump's ban tomorrow, he should keep in mind that four federal courts have blocked the ban from going into effect and have ruled that the only constitutional option is to apply the same standards to every service member, meaning that troops who are fit for duty can serve.
