Buffalo United Artists Presents The Gentleman Caller Oct 27-Nov 12
BUFFALO UNITED ARTISTS presents, 'THE GENTLEMAN CALLER' by Philip Dawkins. Tennessee Williams and William Inge today are recognized as two of the greatest American playwrights, whose work irrevocably altered the theatrical and social landscapes. In 1944, however, neither had achieved anything like genuine success. As flamboyant genius Williams (played by MATT RITTLER) prepares for the world premiere of his play The Gentleman Caller - to become The Glass Menagerie - self-loathing Inge (played by JONATHAN BECKNER) struggles through his job as a theatre critic, denying his true wish to be writing plays. Based on real-life but closed-door encounters, reconstructed from troves of comments (and elisions) by each man about their relationship, PHILIP DAWKINS gorgeously envisions what might have taken place during those early-career meetings.

HRC: FL's Decision to Refuse Life-Saving Care for Trans Youth Only Intensifies a Public Health Crisis & Will Cause Real Harm to Countless Youth & their Families
Orlando, FL - November 4, 2022 - Today, the Florida Board of Medicine voted to approve language for a statewide rule that will create a freeze frame for transgender youth already accessing gender-affirming medical care and effectively prohibit new care for transgender youth under the age of 18, making Florida the first U.S. state to limit and partially ban such treatment through an administrative process. The Board passed the measure in a 6-3 vote, on the heels of pressure generated by Governor Ron DeSantis, the Florida Department of Health (FDOH), and Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo. Ladapo, who has a history of issuing widely discredited public health guidance, circulated a memo earlier this year that advised medical professionals against providing gender-affirming care, stating his case by using misleading, cherry-picked, and thoroughly debunked data. The rule contradicts guidance from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Being distracted by a very distinct sound. A grotesque. Yet familiar one. I listened. But hence. It came no more.

Putting an end to the myths of Stonewall
For years, people have debated what actually happened that night in June 1969 when Stonewall was raided and a new, more militant struggle for equality was born. Due to the debates, and the insistence of some who claim they knew all aspects of what had actually happened, an incredible void opened up where people could invent, imagine, or distort Stonewall and our history to their own objectives. The myths of Stonewall are endless, but they're easily dispelled when you look at the material proof and plain logic.
