US Premiere of Bette and Joan: The Final Curtain at Buffalo United Artists
Old Age Is No Place For Sissies!
Buffalo United Artists proudly presents the United States premiere of BETTE & JOAN: THE FINAL CURTAIN originally created by Foursight Theatre Co. UK, devised by Sarah Thom, Sarah Toogood & James Greaves, with script by James Greaves.
"Fasten Your Seatbelts, It's Going To Be A Bumpy Night!"
BUA Summer Camp 2015 is in session! Audiences, flipped for POSEIDON: THE UPSIDE DOWN MUSICAL, went cuckoo for THE BIRDS ATTACK! and died laughing for L'IMITATION OF LIFE. This summer Jimmy Janowski and Christopher Standart portray legendary Hollywood screen queens Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. Known for a huge professional and personal rivalry, the divas' famous put downs about each other have become ingrained in pop culture. Hot off the stage at the St James Theatre in London, UK, BUA brings BETTE & JOAN: THE FINAL CURTAIN to Buffalo audiences.
"You Should Only Say Good Things About The Dead. Joan Crawford is Dead. Good!"
On her own death bed, Bette Davis is forced by scandalmonger Hollywood gossip columnists Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons to confront the ghost of her nemesis, Joan Crawford. Just because someone is dead doesn't mean they've changed and BETTE & JOAN: THE FINAL CURTAIN is a wry, feisty and irreverent look at two of Hollywood's greatest icons and their equally famous feud.
"Why Am I So Good At Playing Bitches? Because I'm Not A Bitch. That's Why Miss Crawford Always Plays Ladies."
BUFFALO SPREE Magazine has named Jimmy Janowski (Joan) 'Favorite Actor of Western New York' in 2013. His gender bending characters have been delighting local audiences for over 20 years, both at his home company of BUFFALO UNITED ARTISTS and during the record breaking run of SHEAR MADNESS at the former Studio Arena Theatre. Jimmy is the recipient of numerous ARTVOICE 'ARTIE' awards; both for acting and writing.
Eight time Artie award nominee Christopher Standart (Bette) has delighted audiences on most every local stage, in such productions as MOMMIE QUEEREST, THE BIRDS, L'IMITATION OF LIFE, POSEIDON: THE UPSIDE DOWN MUSICAL, TROPICAL HEAT, THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER, THE COBBLER, THE LEARNED LADIES, MOOKIE CRANKS A TATER, and TRU. Most recently nominated for a 2015 ARTVOICE 'ARTIE' award for his performance of Judge Danforth in THE CRUCIBLE, Christopher, the Susan Lucci of Buffalo Theater, again went home without the award.
