SisTers PGH was created to aid and rehabilitate transgender and people of color and impoverished individuals , those that have been victimized by a society that does not allow them to thrive within the community with permanent solutions to marginalization. By educating transgender issues and people of color through outreach and advocacy, we will help to empower trans people within their communities. SisTers PGH is a BLACK and TRANS led non-profit organization which serves black and brown, trans and nonbinary people within our communities.

"Another one for the history books. A Black Trans woman and her work displayed in the Heinz History Center for the first time while she's alive is ICONIC! I'm truly grateful to the team at the History Center, especially DaNia Childress, for taking the time to listen. Listening can be one of the most potent and liberating tools of storytelling.

Gender-affirming care saves lives
Last Thursday, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed into law a total ban on gender-affirming health care for transgender children, including puberty blockers and hormone treatments to treat any underlying gender dysphoria cause. Surgeries, which were rare in Tennessee, are also banned.

SisTers PGH launches TGNC Youth Collective
TGNC Youth Collective is a space where young TGNC folk can express their creativity while creating a collaborative initiative that aims to improve service delivery outcomes for TGNC young people through the delivery of activities that build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills in TGNC youth. We are now accepting inquiries for our program, TGNC Youth Collective for 2023. Inquiries must identify as a trans woman, trans man, or gender, nonconforming sibling between the ages of 15-23 and live in Pittsburgh/Allegheny County.

Project T is Pittsburgh's Trans-Led Transitional Housing program, a project of SisTers PGH for Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color who also identify as Trans, non-binary, and other gender-nonconforming individuals (TGNC) those among the most likely to experience housing insecurity because of discrimination, housing affordability, transphobia, and the barriers of access disparity. These issues were apparent prior to the COVID19 pandemic; however, the prevalence of these barriers has heightened as a result of the pandemic's consequences regarding housing, health, and safety. Project T - a radical vision of self-determination and housing justice.

People's Pride PGH Presents: Swissvale Pride on June 5
(Swissvale, PA) -- SisTers PGH, a nonprofit founded and operated by Black trans women and femmes, has been organizing People's Pride PGH March and Festival every year since 2017. Each year, we march to include local nonprofits, school districts, unions, and community members who have long been neglected by the former Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh and other organizations in the area. Our work to uplift the TGNC (Trans and Gender-Nonconforming) community of Allegheny County will continue next year. However, the People's Pride PGH 2022 March and Festival, which will take place on Sunday, June 5, will relocate to Swissvale, home of the SisTers PGH offices, community center, and many other Black and brown TLGBQIA folks.

SisTersPGH is looking for three BIPOC trans folk to go to Puerto Rico with SisTers PGH staff and leadership! The goal is to learn how to be a black trans leader in the nonprofit, social, and economic realms. We will be experiencing a series of trainings throughout the week of 10/13-10/19 that includes self care and rejuvenation time because black trans people deserve to rest and feel centered in a world of uncertainty. We are looking for applicants that are ready to take their voice and put it to action as a scholar of SisTers PGH, as trans leader that embodies the leadership mission, vison and values of SisTers PGH. Apply if interested in joining a black trans agency that fights to unite and demarginalize our black and brown trans communities of South Western Pennsylvania through advocacy, protest, housing, policy, legislation and/or city/state government.
