Pride at Work Reacts to Religious Exemptions Executive Order
Washington - May 4, 2017 - The White House, today, issued an executive order aimed at expanding so-called "religious liberties." While this order seems to back away from the anti-LGBTQ provisions of the previous draft, the order will still provide cover for businesses that do not wish to provide birth control to their employees and will make political speech by churches and other religious institutions easier. Pride at Work executive director, Jerame Davis, issued the following statement in response to the order: "The changes in this executive order since the previous draft leaked are a strong indication that the White House realizes that LGBTQ discrimination is not palatable to the vast majority of Americans. While the worst anti-LGBTQ provisions were removed, some pretty awful stuff remains that will impact our community.

Pride at Work Condemns New Anti-Immigrant Executive Orders
Washington - January 25, 2017 - Today at the White House, the President announced several executive orders that deny entry to the United States for citizens of certain countries, authorizes the construction of a wall at the southern border, and punishes sanctuary cities that provide safety and security for undocumented people. Pride at Work Executive Director, Jerame Davis, reacted strongly: "The President's new executive orders on immigration are shameful and dangerous. These actions will do nothing to make our nation more safe or secure. For many LGBTQ immigrants who've fled repressive regimes, deportation to their country of origin could be a death sentence.
Pride at Work Reacts to Leaked Religious Exemptions Executive Order Draft
Washington - February 2, 2017 - Last night, a draft leaked of a potential executive order that would extend broad religious exemptions that amount to a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people. Pride at Work executive director, Jerame Davis, issued the following statement in response to the potential of such an order: "If enacted, this order could have devastating consequences for LGBTQ Americans, particularly our working brothers and sisters in the federal government. It is chilling that any administration would suggest such an expansive policy designed to curtail rights and protections, some of which have been in place for more than half a century.
Pride at Work Reacts to TPP Withdrawal
Washington - Janaury 24, 2017 - On Monday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order removing the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal, which Pride at Work has opposed for more than two years. Pride at Work Executive Director, Jerame Davis, made the following statement in response: "We are cautiously pleased that President Trump has removed the United States from the TPP. Aside from being a bad deal for working people, the environment, and our food supply, TPP would have elevated the trade status of countries that abuse, criminalize, and, in some cases, kill their LGBTQ citizens. What's more, the extensions on patents for certain biologically derived medicines would have driven up the cost of life-saving medications for severe illnesses like HIV.

Pride at Work Reacts to Secretary of Labor Nomination
Washington - December 8, 2016 - In another case of putting the fox in charge of the chicken coop, today Donald Trump named Andrew Puzder as the Secretary of Labor for his Administration. Puzder is the CEO of CKE restaurants, which owns the Hardees and Carl's Jr. fast food chains. He is strongly opposed to any increases in the minimum wage and wants to see the Affordable Care Act repealed. Pride at Work Executive Director, Jerame Davis, issued the following reaction to Puzder's nomination to head the Department of Labor: "Andrew Puzder's nomination to become the Secretary of Labor is a slap in the face to every working person in America. Here we have a man who makes over a million dollars a year in base salary, but he thinks the minimum wage is too high. Just to prove how out of touch he is with average working people, he also opposes the Affordable Care Act, which has insured over 20 million people - many of whom likely work for Pudzer's company.

Bannon's close association with hate groups and his own despicable rhetoric- including calling progressive women dykes- has no place in the White House. We refuse to allow a racist hold one of the highest advisory roles in this administration.

Washington, DC - December 1, 2016 – To commemorate World AIDS Day, Pride at Work Executive Director, Jerame Davis, issued the following statement: "As we mark the passing of another World AIDS Day, some encouraging news brings new hope in battling the pandemic. In the US, new HIV diagnoses are down 9% and the death rate for people living with HIV has declined 30% since 2010. There are still disparities in progress among certain populations, particularly gay and bisexual men of color and those living in Southern states, so the work to stop HIV must continue.

The amendment creates a broad religious exemption that would allow federal contractors to discriminate against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workers, effectively rescinding protections for 28 million Americans. The executive order this amendment targets generated little controversy and was implemented with no major problems. Pride at Work Executive Director, Jerame Davis, issued the following statement:
Malaysian Raid of Transgender Fundraiser Underscores Bad Trade Deal
Washington, DC- April 27 - A recent raid on a fundraiser organized by Malaysian transgender activists has once again put the country's abuses of LGBTQ human rights under the spotlight. LETTER to the EDITOR on Paid Sick Leave in PA
As we know well in the LGBT community, our state legislature doesn't do anything quickly. We've been fighting for years to pass state wide non-discrimination protection for LGBT workers. Now instead of rushing to protect workers, legislators are in a race to take rights away. Right now some are trying to fast track a law that would take away sick days from 200,000 workers and strip the rights of local communities to create their own ordinances.

WASHINGTON, DC - March 27, 2015- Yesterday, Governor Mike Pence of Indiana signed that state's version of a Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) bill, which would allow businesses, governments, and even first responders to discriminate against LGBT people and other minority groups on religious grounds. Pride at Work opposes these bills and Executive Director Jerame Davis, an Indiana native, reacted strongly to the enactment of this law in Indiana:
