Jamestown NY Pride 2024

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, Jamestown Pride held their annual Pride in downtown Jamestown. NY. Photos are by Andrea Shaffer, Rex Apps, and Michael Mahler.

Pride will kick off Saturday, June 1, at 10 am with a flag-raising in Downtown Jamestown. The event will include coffee and doughnuts, speakers, and voter registration as part of the "Vote with PRIDE campaign." You can get your Jamestown PRIDE tee shirt or decal at the flag-raising to be ready for pride month.

B. Proud at Jamestown Pride Fest

St. Luke's Church and the Episcopal Dioceses of Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania, in collaboration with The Chautauqua County Mental Health Association, are pleased to announce B. Proud as the Opening Speaker for Jamestown Pride Fest (JPF). Her slide lecture will occur at St. Luke's Undercroft, North Main and 4th Streets, Jamestown, New York, on Friday, June 9, at 6:30 pm.

Jamestown Pride on June 11

The 2nd Annual Jamestown Pride Festival, presented by Evergreen Health, was a successful follow up, establishing the annual tradition of Pride festivals in Chautauqua County. Kicking off on Friday, June 10th with the Pride Slow Roll and Laced Up Ladies Burlesque at Sneakers Bar, the main festival on June 11th had grown to three blocks of events.

Jamestown Pride Highlights LGBTQIA+ Voices at Coffeehouse Event

Seventy people attended Jamestown Pride's annual Fall event, the "J-Pride Coffeehouse," at the Robert H. Jackson Center on Friday, October 15th. Planned in collaboration with the Robert H. Jackson Center and the Fenton History Center, the event focused on the struggles, stories, and successes of the Queer community in Chautauqua County.

Jamestown Pride to hold J-Pride Coffeehouse event at the Robert H. Jackson Center

The Jamestown Pride Committee will hold its annual J-Pride Autumn event 7:00-9:00 p.m., October 15th at the Robert H. Jackson Center. The event will feature speakers, entertainment, coffee and snacks from the Labyrinth Press Company, and an open mic with prompts to tell your story! There will also be door prizes with extra entries for sharing your story or donating to next year's Pride Festival.

Jamestown Pride Meeting 6 PM, Wednesday, September 8! We'll be sharing and gathering feedback about the 1st Annual Jamestown Pride Fest that was held June 12th. Your feedback will help shape the 2nd Annual Jamestown Pride Fest to be held on Saturday, June 13th! This will be a hybrid meeting that will be held in-person at the Mental Health Association of Chautauqua County (Gateway Center, 31 Water Street, Jamestown, NY) and on Zoom. Those who attend in person will be required to wear a mask.

Jamestown Pride's First Pride Fest A Grand Success

Jamestown Pride's first Pride Festival held Saturday, June 12th in Downtown Jamestown has been declared a success. The Festival took place alongside the Jamestown Public Market, included a Pride flag raising ceremony with Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist, a "safe space" information and resources area, as well as a free music, dance, and drag show headlined by Drag Star and Jamestown native Pandora Box.

Jamestown Pride's National Coming Out Day Event on October 11

We are excited to share with you the many details about Jamestown Pride's National Coming Out Day event that is set for 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 11th. The online event will feature local members of the LGBTQIA+ community sharing their stories about themselves with a moderator that will be livestreamed in a Zoom webinar, courtesy of the Robert H. Jackson Center. The stories shared will be added to the exhibit the Fenton History Center is compiling about the history about Chautauqua County's LGBTQIA+ community.

Jamestown NY Fenton History Center LGBTQ Project

The Fenton History Center has recently been awarded grant funding through the New York State Council on the Arts and Greater Hudson Heritage Network to begin collecting archival materials with the intention to develop an exhibit highlighting the history and personal experience of members of the LGBTQIA+ community of the Greater Jamestown Area.

First Jamestown Pride 2020 Planning Meeting Held

The Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County and their LGBTQIA+ support group, Southern Tier Queer Peers, hosted on Tuesday, December 10th the first planning meeting for Jamestown Pride 2020. Jamestown Pride will be held the second weekend of June 2020.

Certified Peer Specialist Sheridan A. Smith said, "We had a great turnout with many organizations sending representatives to be included in the planning to support the LGBTQIA+ community. Mayor-Elect Eddie Sundquist also attended to lend his voice and support for the event."
