Wyatt Wallace is a type-A, plan-following TV commercial director, and his partner Biz Petterelli is a child-actor-turned-magazine-writer who loves spontaneity. They live together in Brooklyn, where they've settled into a happy life with their dog Matilda. In a month, they will be fathers to a new baby. And they're totally freaking out.
Though they've always wanted to be fathers, they're beginning to doubt their ability to handle the transition. Are they ready to function on little sleep? Will they miss their exciting, busy life in New York, filled with dinner parties, gay bars, Broadway shows, and impromptu summer trips? And how will their relationship change with a baby in the mix?
Biz comes up with an idea to help-instead of flying to California in four weeks just before the birth, they'll pack up their car and drive west. It'll be an opportunity to blow off some steam and reconnect before they're thrown into parenthood. But when they take a few unexpected detours, they're forced to reckon with old wounds and secrets they've never addressed. On their way from one coast to the other, Wyatt and Biz will have to decide if after this road trip is over their relationship will still be intact.
