Hoovler Named PFLAG State Coordinator

During the recent national PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered Persons) conference held Oct. 11-14 in McLean, VA, Mark Hoovler was appointed PFLAG’s Pennsylvania State Coordinator. Hoovler is president of the PFLAG Erie and Crawford Counties chapter.

1st Venango Digital Film Association Film Festival
Roxanne and Linda get ready for the first Venango Digital Film Association Film Festival, which will be held Friday, Nov. 2 at the Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin and Nov. 3 at the Latonia Theater in Oil City. Organizers put out a call for films that relate to the history, culture and society of the area west of Harrisburg. as well as those produced by people who reside in the area. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Latonia, Barrow-Civic, the Franklin and Venango Area chambers of commerce, Oil City Art Gallery and Venango Campus.

Hearing in Erie about PA HB 1400
Public hearings were held in Erie Oct. 5, on PA House Bill 1400 that would amend the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act to prohibit discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. The public hearing was conducted by the House State Government Committee chaired by Representative Babette Josephs (D-Philadelphia).
