Vertigo opens in Butler
On Friday, February 27, 2009, Vertigo (which had been a monthly dance party at a variety of locations near Butler) opened in its own space at 300 E Jefferson St, Butler PA. The local GLBT community and supporters finally had a space to call their own! Photos by Michael Mahler

GLBT equality legislation meeting in Erie PA
On Sunday, February 8, about 30 people attended a meeting in Erie about passing GLBT equality legislation at the state level in Pennsylvania. The meeting had been convened by Steve Glassman, Chair of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission; Andy Hoover of the American Civil Liberties Union and Jake Kaskey, outreach coordinator for Equality Advocates of Pennsylvania. Much of the publicity for the meeting was via the GLBT Voter/Activist email list.
Meeting with Kathy Dahlkemper
Our Erie GLBT lobbying group of seven (Michael Mahler, John Max Irwin, Janice Hanusik, Laurie Finch, Richard McVay, C Michael, and David L Martin) met with newly elected Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper and her aide Dr Amy Cuzzola-Kern Ph.D at 1:30 PM on Friday, January 23, 2009. The meeting lasted about 40 minutes, during which we discussed potential legislation regarding the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, hate crimes, military readiness, and Defense of Marriage Act.
