Safe Journey was organized in early 1978 by a group of concerned residents in Union City, PA, that included people of faith, the justice of the peace, police officers, a social worker and other townspeople who were instrumental in identifying the need for domestic violence services.

From Safe Journey: This training is a great way to help victims of domestic violence throughout Erie County.Statistically, 1 in 4 women, 1 in 7 men and 1 in 4 children will be victims of domestic violence. In Erie County there are potentially 56,000 victims. Our next upcoming PurpleOne Training for Thursday, April 13th, 2023 from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. via Zoom. Members of several local LGBTQ+ groups and the domestic violence service providers Safe Net and Safe Journey have come together to learn more about the needs of domestic violence victims and survivors in our LGBTQ+ communities. Domestic violence is a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner in an intimate relationship. It happens across all groups of people, regardless of race, gender identity, social status, religion, sexual orientation or attraction.
