Southern Connecticut State University is conducting a study to explore how older LGBTQ+ adults experience sex, intimacy, and connection as they age. Your voice matters, and your experiences can help shape how counselors and health professionals support people like you.
You're Eligible if you:
- Are 65 or older & Identify as LGBTQ+
- Live in the Northeastern U.S.
- Have access to a computer and internet
- Are willing to speak English in an interview
- Are comfortable with basic tech (ie. Zoom, email & PDFs)
You don't need to be in a relationship or sexually active to join. Asexual, aromantic, and celibate individuals are welcome.
About The Study
Investigating Intimate Intersections: Queerness, Sex, and Older Adulthood (SCSU IRB#: 631)
This study centers the lives of LGBTQ+ adults aged 65+ and how they navigate relationships, pleasure, identity, and connection in later life. By participating, you'll help challenge ageism, queer invisibility, and narrow ideas about what intimacy looks like across the lifespan.
What's Involved?
- A short demographic questionnaire
- 3 individual interviews (total ~2 hrs 15 mins)
- One optional 75-minute focus group
All sessions will take place via Zoom (or in person, if possible), and will be audio and video recorded for research purposes only.
Your Rights & Privacy
- Participation is completely voluntary
- Your name and identity will never be shared
- Skip any question or stop anytime, no pressure
- All responses are confidential and securely stored
