Adagio Health receives "High Performer" designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation

Adagio Health is recognized as a LGBTQ+ friendly space and healthcare provider

Pittsburgh, PA (June 26, 2024) Adagio Health is committed to implementing inclusive policies and care for underserved populations, especially the LGBTQ+ community. Recently, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) designated Adagio Health as a "High Performer" healthcare provider through their 16th iteration of HRC's Healthcare Equality Index, or HEI.

Adagio Health is one of 462 healthcare organizations nationwide with the "High Performer" designation. To be awarded this placement, Adagio Health has met the HEI's criteria of providing non-discrimination policies for patients and staff; LGBTQ+ inclusive care trainings for providers; services, resources, and education centered around LGBTQ+ and Transgender patients; specific inclusive employee policies and benefits; and participating in LGBTQ+ community outreach and engagement.

"Our entire team of medical providers, WIC and nutrition support staff, behavioral health and care navigation providers, cancer screening professionals, tobacco cessation experts, support staff and more have worked so hard to achieve this goal, and to ensure that all of our offices are welcoming, inclusive spaces for all of our patients, clients, and program participants."

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, stated in the 2024 HEI report, LGBTQ+ adults are twice as likely as non-LGBTQ+ adults to be "treated unfairly or with disrespect by a doctor or healthcare provider" in the last three years. Combined with other health disparities, like limited access to care and lack of education, the LGBTQ+ community can have poor health outcomes affecting their quality of life.

"LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones are looking for healthcare providers to offer and champion fully inclusive services. The Healthcare Equality Index is helping people find facilities where welcoming policies and practices are the standard," said Kelley Robinson, President of the Human Rights Campaign. "We know that LGBTQ+ people especially our trans family continue to face discrimination in the doctor's office. No one should have to put their health on the backburner for fear of mistreatment in a healthcare facility or by their doctor."

Additionally, Adagio Health focuses on supporting LGBTQ+ patients with Behavioral Health services, greater access to care, and inclusive health care services ranging from general health exams to PrEP and PEP treatments.
