Thank You WNY For Celebrating Pride 2023 With Niagara Pride

This year, Niagara Pride went bigger than ever before to celebrate Pride. We extended Pride Month into an entire Season of Pride...and WNY responded with love, acceptance, and unicorns.

Starting in May 2023, the WNY Pride 5K Fun Run/Walk kicked off the Pride festivities with over 30 participants attending the event at Niagara County Community College as well as some completing the 5K virtually around the US. June 1, saw the Pride Flag raised at Art Park, Niagara Falls State Park, Niagara Falls City Hall, NCCC in Sanborn, and Lockport City Hall. June was a busy time for Niagara Pride, with us marching in the Buffalo Pride Parade, hosting Newfane Pride (in partnership with Calhoon's Pub) and Oliver Street Pride in North Tonawanda (in partnership with Oliver Street Merchants Association).

The crowning jewel for Niagara Pride this year was hosting Rainbow City Pride in downtown Niagara Falls, thanks to our partnership with Old Falls Street. The day included a Pride Interfaith Service, hosted by St. Peter's Episcopal, a number of street vendors on Old Falls Street, musical performances by the Buffalo Gay Men's Chorus, drag performances by Jayme Cox and Divas Who. Guest speakers included local WNY icons and trailblazers, Ari Moore and Kitty Lambert-Rudd (along with her wife Cheryle). After parties were hosted by Gold Bar, The Archives Pub, and Daredevil Records. And what Pride celebration isn't complete without the Falls themselves being illuminated in the Pride and Trans colors along with a fireworks display.

Finally, in partnership with Gust of Sun Winery, Niagara Pride wrapped up the month with a free community thank you event.

Pride 2023 was definitely one for the history books and we are honored to have been able to bring a variety of events to WNY to help LGBTQ+ individuals and allies celebrate. We can't wait for 2024!
