Gallery Night scheduled for December 2, 2016

November 11, 2016, Erie, PA- The Erie Art Museum is organizing the next Gallery Night, scheduled for Friday, December 2 from 7 until 10 p.m. The Erie Art Museum and more than a dozen other independent galleries will open their doors after-hours for a chance to explore the city's vibrant arts scene. Each gallery offers a different experience, from artist meet and greets to wine samplings to live music, and visual art, featuring local, regional, and national artists. Admission is free to the public.

The Museum will open two new exhibits, Sergei Isupov: Hidden Messages and the Northwest Pennsylvania Artist Association Holiday Show. Isupov will give an artist lecture in the Special Events Room at 7 p.m., and Erie ClaySpace Artist Association and the NPAA will sell one-of-a-kind artworks from their members. Also on view are Mood Swing Review: A solo exhibition by Ron Bayuzick, Dark Garden: An Installation by Linda Huey, and Jose Picayo: Polaroids (1986 – 2015).

Downtown d'Lights - Perry Square

Join us from 5 - 8 pm for the official lighting of downtown Erie for the holidays. Free hot chocolate, coffee and cookies, pictures with Santa, live entertainment and more! Switch is flipped at 6pm.

1) Allen Stoneware - 2602 West 8th Street

Presenting recent pottery by Mark Nowak and fiber art by Barbara Lockwood and Lynn Rupe. Artist meet and greet, student pottery sales, and holiday refreshments served

2) Artlore Studio - 3402 West Lake Road

Presenting Christine Erin's photographic series, For the Love of Dance. Through creative photography and compositing, Erin showcases movement and emotion through the art of dance in our lives. Work from this series and additional landscape and abandonment prints will be available for purchase. Also featuring Lena Logvina' s stunning mosaic and jewelry work, collected and appreciated around the world. Come and see her latest creations!

3) Beachcomber Boutique - 3445 W 12th Street

Featuring one-of-a-kind, fused glass works from artists Joe and Deb Zingaro of Baker-Hart Studios, and with chill in the air, you're sure to appreciate their new fall line. Also showcasing new driftwood artwork and Lake Erie beach glass jewelry by store owner, Denise Walker. Artist presentation from Joe and Deb. Catered food and drink served.

4) Coffee in the Park - 4007 Main Street

Coffee in the Park aims to reinvent community in and around its shop by creating a place for people, creativity, and culture. The current exhibit, The Beauty of Local, features mixed media canvas and framed work by Marcia Hatton, all natural body and bathroom products by Missy Weismiller, hand-knit designs by Mary Sargent, and handcrafted work by other local artists. Artists meet and greets and light refreshments served.

5) D' Hopkins Denniston Gallery - 5 West 10th Street

Presenting new sculptures and paintings just in time for the holidays! Take advantage of this second annual holiday art sale. Enjoy music and refreshments, meet the artists, and join in for a fun Q & A art discussion.

6) Erie Arts & Culture - 23 West 10th Street, Suite 2

View an exhibit of fine art photographs from the Photographic Arts Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania (PASNWPA) including Tracy Dorsch, Candy Felege, Fred Fiedler, Steve Friel, Patti Larson, Pam Laskowski, Kathy Maloney, Patty Menz, Tricia Patten, Terry Pytlarz, Bob Raydo, Patty Raydo, Heather Reichel, Rebecca Samler, Monica Schwegman, Nathan Sulecki, Kathy A. Welte, Gayle Winslow, and Greg Zbach. Artist meet and greet and refreshments provided.

7) Erie Art Museum - East 5th St. between State & French

Exhibits on view: Sergei Isupov: Hidden Messages, Northwest Pennsylvania Artist Association Holiday Show, Mood Swing Review: A solo exhibition by Ron Bayuzick, José Picayo Polaroids (1986-2015), and Dark Garden: an installation by Linda Huey. Artist Lecture by Sergei Isupov at 7 p.m. in the Special Events Room, NPAA reception and works for sale in the Hagen Family and Katzwinkel Galleries, and Erie Clayspace Artist Association holiday pottery sales in the Special Events room all evening.

8) Glass Growers Gallery - 10 East 5th Street

Reinventing Myth: A Collaboration of the Mind, Heart, & Spirit of Miss Finn, recent mixed media paintings on view through January 10, 2017. Come celebrate the much-anticipated return of Noreen Finn to her meaningful, expressive, and magical world of art. Meet and greet the artist. Wine and refreshments served.

9) Kada Gallery - 2632 West 8th Street

Presenting, Part of the Plan, a show by G.C. Myers. This will be his first large show here in two years that features his vibrant and layered acrylics. His pieces are characterized by their introspective thoughts. For him art is often a juxtaposition between the tangible and philosophical. Light refreshments served.

10) Pointe Foure Vintage Boutique (Hosted at Mod Apothecary) - 2564 W. 8th Street

Pointe Foure, Mod Apothecary, and Sarah Peach have joined forces once again. Enjoy an evening of powerful personal styling by sponsor, Emily George of Pointe Foure, in her one night, pop-up shop in Mod. Inhale intoxicating, customized scents concocted by hostess Stacey Orr. 11) Radius CoWork Gallery - 1001 State Street 9th Floor

Featuring Marcy Hall's painting series, Erie Through My Eyes: View of a Beautiful City. Hall' s colorful and whimsical paintings reflect her optimism for the region. It is up to each and every one of us to make Erie the place we want it to be; sometimes that starts with seeing familiar places through someone else' s eyes. Artist meet & greet. 12) Ralph Miller Jewelers & Gallery - 28 West 8th Street

RMJ's Holiday Delights exhibit presents 50 new, original, handmade works from the talented RMJ jewelry artists: Carrie Magee; Liza Magee; Sally Griffin; Janice, Paul and Daniel Niebauer. Also featuring oil paintings by Diane Wenzel Pierce, watercolors by Sally Griffin, and ceramics by Palm Beach artist, G. Lee Carlson. Artist meet, greet, and shop. Refreshments served. 13) Satya Yoga Center - 10 East 5th St. (2nd floor)

If you look closely, common patterns, designs, and structures are visible throughout nature. These natural patterns and structures contain geometrical similarities, which reveal to us the Satya (truth) and nature of form, giving us a blueprint for the interconnected union of which we are all a part. Featuring local artists and their journey through the collective consciousness with Sacred Geometry and the Art of Satya. Artist meet and greet. Wine and light refreshments served.

14) Schuster Gallery at Gannon University - 700 Peach St First Floor

View the winners of a Gannon student photo competition, Our Changing Culture and Climate, and celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Artist meet and greet and refreshments served.

About the Erie Art Museum

The Erie Art Museum anchors downtown Erie' s cultural and economic revitalization, occupying a group of restored mid-19th century commercial buildings and a modern, ' Green,' 10,500 square foot expansion.  The newly expanded Museum marks the first LEED-certified building in the region, soon to be complete with a planted rooftop.

The Museum maintains an ambitious program of changing exhibitions annually, embracing a wide range of subjects, both historical and contemporary and including folk art, contemporary craft, multi-disciplinary installations, community-based work, as well as traditional media.

The Erie Art Museum also holds a collection of over 8,000 objects, which includes significant works in American ceramics, Tibetan painting, Indian bronzes, contemporary baskets, and a variety of other categories.
