Vertigo Thanksgiving dinner update
Vertigo's Thanksgiving Community Dinner was great. We opened our doors and fed over 40 people.and we had 20 plus volunteers. Thanks to everyone who helped out or donated.
IRS Grants Erie Gay Pride Tax Exempt Status
Erie Gay Pride, Inc., Erie's official GLBT community organization, has been granted federal tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). In granting the organization's request for tax-exempt status, the IRS recognized Erie Gay Pride's mission of providing educational programs and services to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in the Erie region. As an official 501 (c) 3 organization, donations made to Erie Gay Pride, Inc. are tax deductible on federal income tax returns. The status was officially granted effective Sept. 11, 2009.

Erie Gay News Folding Party and LBT Women Beanwear
On Wednesday, December 23 2009, Mike Kohler and Tom Wiler hosted the folding work party for Erie Gay News. This was our 17th anniversary issue. The LBT Women of Erie helped out and also showed off their fabulous new Bean Wear (for Hanging with the Beans.) The "Hanging with the Beans" logo for the LBT Women of Erie was designed by Erie Gay News graphic designer Mike Lipiec. LBT women collect food for Second Harvest
There were 46 pounds of donations collected in November/December 2009 for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwestern Pennsylvania in the name of the Erie LGBT Community from the terrific food drive at the Presque Isle Gallery Coffeehouse that was organized by the LBT Women of Erie.

Erie Catholic Diocese donated $1,000 to fight marriage equality in Maine
The National Catholic Reporter notes that the Erie Catholic Diocese was one of 50 Catholic dioceses in the country that contributed to the campaign to strike down Maine’s law extending civil marriage rights to same-sex couples. In the Nov. 3 referendum, voters rejected marriage equality 53 percent to 47 percent.

For The Bible Tells Me So screening at Edinboro
The Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Organization for Women presented the film For The Bible Tells Me So on Wednesday, November 18 in the Multipurpose room of the Frank G. Pogue Student Center on the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania campus. There was a pretty good turnout.
