On Saturday, August 15, 2009, Erie PA participated in the Great Nationwide Kiss-In, which occurred on about 50 cities, mostly in the US. The local event was held on the steps of the Erie County Courthouse. 140 W 6th St, Erie PA. This was part of a nationwide reaction to three couples who had been targeted by security and/or law enforcement personnel for simply kissing in public. The event was suggested by David Mailloux and David Badash.
