Danny Will Die Alone Returns for Second Hilarious Season on Dekkoo

The hit Dekkoo Original Series, Danny Will Die Alone, is back with a highly anticipated second season. Building on the success of the first, creator, writer, and star Jack Tracy takes viewers on another laugh-out-loud journey, diving deeper into the complexities of modern dating with a signature blend of outrageous comedy and emotional depth. Fans of the show can expect more of Danny's wild escapades, including episodes tackling polyamory, the concept of being a "side," open couples, and even some taboo topics like fisting and exploring gender norms. "We handle these themes just as indelicately as always," Tracy laughs, promising the same unfiltered approach that made season one so memorable.

The inspiration for season two, much like the first, comes from Tracy's own dating life. But this time, there's a new challenge: creating a throughline that would extend across longer episodes. "When the show was picked up as a Dekkoo Original Series, I was given two tasks: make the episodes longer and give the season a throughline," explains Tracy. "My inspiration came from my dating life, as usual. Danny continues to go on a new date each episode, but now we explore the duality between his romantic and sexual self. That's a theme that plays out much more intentionally in this new season."

The production took place once again across New York City, with key scenes filmed at LGBTQ+ friendly locations. Fresco's Grand Cantina, an LGBTQ-owned Mexican restaurant in Astoria known for its drag brunch, served as a major set. "They were so good to us, and we were so happy to work with them," says Tracy.

Season two stays true to the show's roots always with a bit of hyperbole for comedic effect however, this time around, there's more heart. The addition of actor Jordan Bell as Matty, Danny's regular hookup buddy, adds a layer of drama that gives Danny's character new emotional depth. In the first season, Danny was portrayed as more of an angry archetype. This season, he is a more realized and fleshed-out person.

The casting of Jordan Bell as Matty was driven by his natural chemistry with Tracy. "Jordan was chosen because our chemistry as actors is off the charts," says Tracy. "My co-producer, Joseph Patrick Conroy, noticed it immediately, and I have to agree. In the editing room, it's undeniable. Audiences are really going to like seeing Danny finally having a foil." Matty serves as Danny's go-to for regular intimacy between his dating misadventures, and their dynamic brings a new dimension to Danny's journey.

As in the first season, Danny continues to struggle with navigating what he sees as a chaotic and often wild dating world. Season two delves deeper into the conflict between Danny's adherence to traditional, heteronormative relationship models and the evolving landscape of queer dating, particularly among younger generations. This evolution often leaves Danny feeling like he's being left behind, offering a sharp but relatable commentary on the generational divide within the LGBTQ+ community.

Danny tries his best to learn from his past mistakes, but by the end of the second season, his jadedness only grows. "He's on a journey," Tracy teases, but whether Danny fully evolves remains to be seen. "He definitely goes through a journey, I'll say that."

Season two also marks a collaboration with Jack Tracy's musical work. The series features all-new music from Tracy's forthcoming album, Glorify. The season's theme song, "Duality," is available across all streaming platforms now.

In addition, Tracy has also revived the podcast that started it all, Dying Alone, Together. The podcast offers behind-the-scenes insights into seasons one and two and features special guests. Fans can stream the podcast on multiple platforms and follow it on Instagram at @dyingalonepodcast.

With season three already in the works, viewers can rest assured that Danny's journey is far from over. While Tracy is tight-lipped about the details, he hints that Danny will need to find a way out of the mess he lands in by the end of season two, all while doing some serious damage control.

Danny Will Die Alone season 2 stars Jack Tracy as Danny and Jordan Bell as Matty. Jack Tracy also serves as the director, writer, and executive producer, alongside Joseph Patrick Conroy as producer and director of photography.
