How to make the LGBT community stronger?

from Pavel Kuljuk

Immigration policy is one of the effective means of strengthening the influence of the LGBT community in the United States. However, while other social groups are using this opportunity, LGBT representatives are not making a coordinated policy in this area.

The LGBT community is one of largest population groups in the United States. The proportion of LGBT people in the total population is greater than Asian American or Native American. Like other social groups (Latinos, Black, White), LGBTT participates in the political life of the United States, which is characterized by intense competition. To protect and expand their rights, social groups have to fight each other and even the federal and state governments.

In the current situation, it is very strange that the LGBT community does not have its own view on US immigration policy. After all, this area can greatly influence the balance of power in the political life of America. For example, the share of Hispanics among all eligible voters in the U.S. increased from 7.4% in 2000 to 14.3% in 2022. (0) One of the drivers for the growth of this indicator was the mass immigration of Latin Americans to the United States. The increase in the share of voters strengthened the position of Latinos in the domestic political struggle of the United States. At the moment, this group is more numerous and has a larger share of its representatives in the total number of elected positions than LGBT people. Data in the table.

As we see, the LGBT community has reasons to fight. It would be good if the LGBT community increased its potential through immigration. In many countries, official authorities restrict the freedoms of the LGBT community. And the US government has made it its geopolitical goal to protect LGBT people around the world. This makes it logical to allow LGBT people to immigrate to the United States. Such a decision will confirm the status of the United States as a country of sexual freedom and tolerance.

But what do experts say about this? All of them were asked one question:

What is the likelihood that the US government, for geopolitical purposes, will include representatives of the LGBT community in the priority group for immigration?

"I think there is a 0% chance that a special carve out for any group would be in any immigration plan. I don't think that would get past the Supreme Court",-said President Kaplan Strategies, Doug Kaplan.

"I would say uncertain. The inclusion of any group in priority immigration categories is indeed a complex decision that would depend on various factors within the political climate including public opinion",-said Policy and Law Strategist, Sabrina Newby.

As we see, to implement this idea it is necessary to overcome legal and bureaucratic problems. And most importantly, this requires the initiative and desire to fight of the LGBT community. But isn't this a great reason to become more friendly to protect your own kind? Everything that doesn't kill us makes us stronger!
