Erie Celebrates Pride in Style

State Street in the City of Erie was once again adorned with every color of the rainbow on Saturday, June 24, when NW PA Pride Alliance hosted its annual Pride Parade and Pride Fest. Thousands came out to be part of the festivities, which began with a parade at 11th Street and marched north on State Street to Perry Square.

Pride Fest then began on the Erie Insurance Main Stage. DJ Tony G, who returned for his tenth year as host of the event, was joined by Jill McCormick from JET 24-FOX 66 and Miss Erie 2022 Debbie Does Drag to introduce those in attendance to a wide variety of speakers, musicians, actors, and drag performers.

Those in attendance were encouraged to visit the large number of vendors and information tables for the queer community. They could also take advantage of free HIV/STI screenings offered in the Adagio Health Health and Wellness Zone. Young people were treated to being able to check out books from the Erie County Library Book Mobile that was located in the Kid Zone. There were also several food trucks to offer everyone a wide variety of good food.

As always, the NW PA Pride Alliance is grateful to everyone who helped to make this event such a special time. From the volunteer board members to our great community sponsors, Pride would not happen without them. Please try and support those organizations and companies that help present Pride. You can find a complete list by visiting the NW PA Pride website NWPAPride.org and looking under donors.
