Greater Erie Alliance for Equality on Recent HRC Declaration

On June 6, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) officially declared a state of emergency for LGBTQ+ people in the United States. As we all try to take this information in, we know many are feeling various emotions. Greater Erie Alliance for Equality, Inc. (GEAE) is continuously dedicated to supporting the region's LGBTQ+ community and its allies through educational programs, social events, and service opportunities designed to strengthen our voices and improve the quality of life in northwestern Pennsylvania.

This news came just two days after GEAE celebrated the opening of Pride Month with our annual signature event, Afternoon for Equality. At this event, GEAE's friends gathered to commune in a safe and welcoming space, but this warning serves as a stark reminder there is so much work ahead. GEAE has provided additional resources on our website for those struggling with current events impacting our lives. In addition, HRC offers excellent resources on how to take action in its LGBTQ+ Guidebook. With the recent news, this Pride month is even more important as we must continue to stand together to ensure everyone is treated equally within our region.

GEAE is here for you. Our work is not done.

The GEAE Family stands with you all during these difficult times.
