SafeNet To Recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Erie, PA ? September 24, 2020 - In correlation with October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, SafeNet will hold a press conference to introduce a new initiative as well as announce their inclusion in a free, dangerous?assessment application that is designed to recognize abuse in a relationship.

At the press conference, which will be held on Thursday, October 1 at 11:30 a.m. at SafeNet's location at 254 East 10th Street, Erie Mayor Joseph Schember and County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper will deliver proclamations as well as honor the Millcreek and Erie Police Departments for their continued efforts in eliminating domestic violence homicides.

In addition, Mary Bula, the Director of Erie Together, will describe the Domestic Violence Action Alliance, which is a new, county?wide initiative that was inspired by the work of the Re?entry Project and was led by District Attorney Jack Daneri and Judge Marshall Piccinini.

Also, Robyn Young, SafeNet's Director of Domestic Violence Services, will introduce the mobile phone application RUSafe, which is used to help recognize abuse and red flags in a relationship.

"With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we want to shine a light on the incredible work that the police departments are doing each and every day as well as introduce this important phone application," said Linda Lyons King, Chief Executive Officer at SafeNet.
