MMAA Condemns Use of Military Uniform By Unidentified Federal Agents in Portland

WASHINGTON - July 21, 2020 - Today, the Modern Military Association of America (MMAA) released the following statement condemning the Trump-Pence administration's use of unidentified federal agents dawning military uniforms in Portland, Oregon. Against the wishes of the city's elected officials, the Trump-Pence administration is using these militarized federal agents to arrest and detain American citizens protesting in the city.

"Since the Trump-Pence administration saw significant pushback about the use of military troops against American citizens, they now seem to be turning unidentified federal agents into Trump's personal militia," said MMAA Interim Executive Director Jennifer Dane. "Wearing unmarked military uniforms to snatch up American citizens peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights is a gross misuse of power and dishonors the service members who fought and died to protect and defend the Constitution. Congress should take immediate action to address this alarming turn of events."

Formed through the merger of OutServe-SLDN and the American Military Partner Association, the Modern Military Association of America (MMAA) is the nation's largest non-profit organization for the LGBTQ military and veteran community. Find out more at www.ModernMilitary.org
