Greater Erie Alliance for Equality (GEAE) Juried Art Exhibit in June at Erie Art Gallery - Deadline to Submit is April 12

from Greater Erie Alliance for Equality

The Greater Erie Alliance for Equality (GEAE) is pleased to announce that it will hold a Regional Juried LGBTQ Art Exhibit at Erie Art Gallery during Pride month, June 1-30.

The exhibit will feature the art work of LGBTQ artists who are 18+ years of age and who reside within 150 miles of Erie. GEAE is excited to invite not only local LGBTQ artists to submit their work, but also LGBTQ artists from Cleveland, Akron, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and areas between. This juried exhibition will be the first of its kind in the region, and GEAE is grateful to Erie Arts & Culture and SafeNet for their funding and support.

All media may be submitted except for video. If you intend to submit an installation, contact the Erie Art Gallery at (814) 246-3111 for approval before you submit because of space considerations.

All subject matter and genres are welcomed (i.e., landscape, portrait, abstract, still life, nudes, conceptual, social/political commentary, provocative work, and so on). Sales are encouraged, with 80% of the sale going to the artist.

Jurors will be Sharon Louden, artist and Artistic Director of Visual Arts at Chautauqua Institution, and Hrag Vartanian, art critic, editor-in-chief and co-founder of Hyperallergic.

Up to three Juror Awards of $500 each will be given to artists.

Please let your lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer artist friends and organizations know about this wonderful opportunity for LGBTQ artists in the region to showcase their art work and celebrate their Pride.
