As One Community Day at Chautauqua Institution on Sunday, August 5

Please join Chautauqua Institution on Sunday, Aug. 5, for a very special experience of the arts and global understanding, as the Chautauqua Opera Company, Departments of Religion and Literary Arts, Chautauqua Cinema and others join together to celebrate As One Community Day, 12:30–7 p.m. on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution.

Inspired by the Chautauqua Opera Company’s Tuesday, Aug. 7, performance of the groundbreaking opera As One, we aim to spend the day learning about the life story that inspired the opera, perspectives and experiences across difference, and how the arts can create new pathways to enhanced global understanding.

Admission to the grounds of Chautauqua Institution is free on Sundays. As One Community Day participants will be given a voucher to cover the $9 parking fee.

Please RSVP through the form found at this link.

Accompanied by the Fry Street Quartet, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and baritone Kelly Markgraf again share the part of the transgender protagonist Hannah in the opera’s sixteen vignettes that chronicle her journey toward self-acceptance with empathy and humor.
