Where:  Cities around the country, including Washington DC, Chicago, IL, and Columbus OH (more information below)
When:  Tuesday, August 25th

NATIONWIDE -- On Tuesday, August 25th, in cities around the country, Black Lives Matter and organizers will stand against the violence facing black transgender women, saying once and for all that Black Trans Lives Matter.

From Washington DC, to Columbus, Ohio, organizers will #SayHerName, acknowledging the incredible violence facing black transgender women, and the  black transgender women murdered in 2015 alone.  Since the beginning of 2015, over 19 trans women and gender nonconforming individuals have been murdered, 13 confirmed Black women.  After three black trans women -- Elisha Walker, Ashton O'Hara, and Kandis Capri -- were reported murdered in a 24 hour period on August 17th, 2015, trans leaders in the Black Lives Matter Movement were moved to respond.

"We say the names of Mya Hall, Kandis Capri, Elisha Walker, Shade Shuler, Ashton O'Hara, India Clark, Amber Monroe.  We say the names of the black trans women whose lives have been cut short and demand that our cisgender family acknowledge that all Black Lives Matter, "  said Elle Hearns, Black Lives Matter strategic partner and GetEQUAL Central Regional Coordinator.   "The time is now to join #BlackLivesMatter in action as we celebrate our sisters who are living- the very sisters who have fought next to us to sustain this declaration that has been heard around the world. "
