Remembering Fran Reinsel

Frances C. Reinsel, age 67, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at her home in Erie. Fran worked for Gaudenzia/SHOUT Outreach and before that, the Erie County Department of Health. She was a terrific advocate for the GLBT community and people living with HIV/AIDS.

A real angel who never stopped giving and caring for others untill the very end . It was a real blessing to my life to have her as my friend a mentor an coworker rip ms fran your love and dedication to others will be remembered and always cherished by all of us .you made a difference."

She taught me how to embrace life, focus positive energy, and educated me so I could teach others the correct way .So many fond memories come to mind: Christmas time in your house was so magical. When you had my son and I over for easter the year we were all alone here. My job happened because of you . Many heart to heart conversations .I will miss you forever but never forget all that you gave.

She was a very powerful women in our community as a nurse and an HIV educator

Steve and Frannie taught my first HIV/AIDS counseling and certification classes about 8 years ago. Frannie did so much educating, fundraising and counseling. We worked on several projects together. She had a way about her, a warmth really, that just made you feel comfortable. She was wise and compassionate a combination few acheive in their lifetime. I remember her always bringing intigrity to hard to talk about subjects. She allowed the lines of communications to be open where stigma and shame had closed those lines. She was a staple in this community and she will be missed.

The fight against AIDS will long be remembered due to work in part, that we did as a team effort for nine years.

We lost a champion, our friend and colleague, Fran Reinsel to a devastating disease, cancer.

Fran would not want us to cry, but to go on valiantly, with our own lives, enjoying our children and grandchildren as she did, and being the best we can be.

Fran was a great role model for all of us, and we will miss her tremendously.
