ACLU of PA Erie Transgender and Gender Diverse Leadership Academy

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the ACLU of Pennsylvania Erie Transgender and Gender Diverse Leadership Academy (TLA) brought together 20 amazing Erie residents for a day rooted in community, fellowship, resources, knowledge-sharing, and healing. Throughout the day, participants explored the lived experiences of transgender people, community advocacy, storytelling, the Pennsylvania Legislative landscape and local government, and the power of organizing within our own community.

The Day was not only about learning, but about taking action. Participants joined together in collective action to show support for transgender youth across America, demonstrating that our communities are capable of turning connections into action.

While the TLA may have been the gathering that brought us together, it is only the beginning. Our commitment is to see these relationships and conversations continue through local organizing and community-led efforts. We are building our capacity for action, strengthening our communities, and igniting trans power across Pennsylvania.

We invite others to join us in advocating to protect access to gender-affirming medical care for our transgender and gender diverse youth.
