Aging With Pride to Host LGBTQ+ Seniors from Other Cities on August 7

On Friday, August 7, 2026, Aging With Pride will welcome LGBTQ+ Seniors from other cities to a day of fun and activities right here in Erie. The day begins at 10 AM with arrival and meeting at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and Tower at 301 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16505, located near the entrance of Presque Isle State Park. There is free admission at 10 AM to the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and Tower. This Education Center is for visitors to learn about Presque Isle. On a clear day, one can see Canada. At 12:00 PM, they will have lunch at Sara's, 25 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16505. It's a summertime tradition with hot dogs, burgers, fries, shakes, etcetera. Locally made Smith's hot dogs are on the menu! At 1:00 PM, they will drive in carpool groups around Presque Isle State Park, stopping at nature sites, beaches, etc. At 3:30 PM, there will be a Taste of Erie at Werner Books Coffee at 3608 Liberty St., Erie, PA, where folks can sample Taste of Erie, which might include sponge candy, pepperoni balls from Arts Bakery, local wine, and Herb and Honey Bakery items! The day's activities conclude with a 5:30 PM dinner at Wooden Ladle, 4753 West Lake Rd. Erie PA 16505

Pete Pete G (he/him) volunteers with Erie Gay News as a way to give back to the community. Now retired, he enjoys having more time to devote to local LGBTQ+ organizations and events. Pete serves as the 2026 chair of Aging With Pride Erie and is active on several of the organization's committees. He also organizes Bears Do Dinner, a monthly dinner group that has been bringing people together since 2013. Pete studied at SUNY Buffalo and the Universität Würzburg, earning BAs in German and Linguistics as well as a master's degree in Library and Information Science. He speaks German, enjoys cooking, and sells Pampered Chef products.
