Who Wants To Be a Drag Star on May 8

The third round of Who Wants To Be A Drag Star season two was held at the competition's new home - Firehouse Tap and Grille (875 Park Ave, Meadville, PA) - on Friday, May 8. "We're really happy to be at Firehouse," said show host Cherry Falwell. "They are so incredibly supportive of queer and trans folks, and now more than ever it's so important to support businesses that support us." Five contestants (Sunny Rae Rex, Ruby Skye, Sexy Blue, Jawz Onda Flor, and Velvet Viper) battled it out for their spot in the season two finale.
The evening featured performances from season one winner Hydroxyzine, head judge Lady Travesty, round two winners Jodi Patrón and Lew D'Ness, and guest judges Araya Sparxx and Madison St. Lawrence, who traveled from Western Maryland to be a part of the show. "It was really special to have Araya and Madison here," said Cherry. "Araya hosted a show with a very similar format in Maryland that I shamelessly stole from her. It's where I got my start in drag almost five years ago, and it feels like a full circle moment having her and Madison up here being a part of our NW PA version of the show."
As always, contestants had five minutes of stage time to wow the judges and audience with any talent they chose to perform. They also had to turn it out to a surprise on-stage challenge. Each contestant was given two balloons and asked to rock the runway, giving us their best Byron Noem impression. Three contestants moved on to the finale: Jawz, Velvet, and Ruby. They'll compete alongside winners from rounds one and two in the finale at Firehouse on Saturday, June 13. Tickets are on sale now.
