Erie Gay News is Updating its Resource Directory
By David Gurzenski-Lukes
Erie Gay News is much more than the printed publication you hold in your hand. It is an NWPA-based non-profit, LGBTQIA resource and information organization that operates the online EGN website, which includes a resource directory at https://www.eriegaynews.com/news/resources.php.
Since its foundation in 1992, EGN has maintained the largest Northwest PA resource database of its kind. Each year, we attempt to canvass all organizations to confirm that the information we have on record is correct. In many cases, an organization may have changed in the last 12 months, or a new organization or business that would be of interest to our readers and those who access the EGN website needs to be added.
We emailed a resource update request to all organizations currently listed in the database. We sent the email to the contact person we have on file. Even if no changes are needed, we seek confirmation that all current information is correct. We also want each organization that is also a distributor to confirm that the number of newsletter copies that they receive each month is sufficient. Erie Gay News distributes around 1,200 copies to our about 120 locations each month. There is no charge to be included in the resource directory.
EGN editor Michael Mahler gets numerous compliments about the publication at the various events he attends each month in Erie and the surrounding communities. He is most pleased when individuals mention a particular organization they read about in the EGN. "The calendar of events we run seems to grow longer in every subsequent issue," according to Michael. The calendar in the last issue ran more than four pages.
If someone didn't receive a resource update request, either because we don't have an email address for an existing entry or because we don't have them listed in the current directory, they should email Michael at info@eriegaynews.com. He always strives to have the most complete directory possible and to ensure that all the information included is correct.
