Screening of 'Matt Shepard Is a Friend of Mine' on Saturday, September 20

Luther Memorial in association with the Jefferson Educational Society, Greater Erie Alliance for Equality, NWPA Pride Alliance, Compton's Table, Erie Community Foundation, and Erie LGBT Fund will host a viewing of the documentary film 'Matt Sheperd is a Friend of Mine' on Saturday, September 20, 4:00 pm at 225 W 10th St, Erie, PA. In attendance will be the producer of the film, Linda Karn, and special guests Judy and Dennis Shepard.

On October 12, 1998, Matthew Shepard died from following a vicious anti-gay attack. Matt's death opened the world's eyes to the hate and the inequality the LGBTQ+ community struggles against even today.

Matt's story, as told by his friends and family, shows us how love overcomes hate and mercy surpasses cruelty and intolerance. It hopes to inspire others to be proud of who they are and to live their lives with courage, compassion and forgiveness.
