Tethered Announces Auditions for September Immersive Production

Erie, Pennsylvania (May 6, 2025) TETHERED is excited to announce open auditions for dancers and actors ages 18 and over for their flagship September production. Immersive theatre often requires performers to be versatile and able to improvise. Actors with dance experience and dancers with acting experience is a plus, but not a requirement. Auditions will be movement and expression based. Comfortable clothing recommended.

This year, Tethered's 4-night immersive theatrical experience will take place at the former Erie Maennerchor building and be based around the theme of memory and consciousness. In the near future, past and present reunite through an experimental new technology that enables a woman with Alzheimer's and her son to experience her memories. Audiences will embark on a journey that questions the very fabric of our existence, the fragile nature of memory, and what it means to be truly conscious.

Tethered is presented by Velocity Network. Additional support from Erie Arts & Culture Lydia McCain Special Projects grant. Production sponsors are Erie Reader and Michael D. Keim, AWM - RBC Wealth Management. Partners are Alzheimer's Association - Greater Pennsylvania Chapter and Seiche Dance Collective. Fiscal sponsors are Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Immersive theatre surrounds the audience, blurring the lines between performer and spectator. Instead of passively observing performances on a stage, audiences have opportunities to interact with performers, environments, and become fully immersed in the story's world. In 2024, Tethered partnered with PACA and SafeNet to debut Erie's first immersive theatrical experience. The show featured 30 performers spread across 5 floors of the historic Meyer building. Over 350 people attended the 2-night show.
