City of Erie announces 2025 Summer Recreation Guide

Erie, PA - May 12, 2025 - The City of Erie announces that its summer recreation guide is now available at City Hall, Erie School District schools, community centers, and online at cityof.erie.pa.us/summerrec. All programs listed in the guide are free to the City of Erie residents and focus on grades K-12, though ages vary for each program.

"Summer is almost here and there is no better time to get outside!", said Erie Mayor Joe Schember. "The City of Erie is home to numerous public parks and beautiful greenspaces. We are pleased to announce several very exciting, fun, and educational summer recreation programs throughout Erie in 2025."

Highlighted below are just a few of the many summer recreation options that City of Erie youth may enjoy.

• Working with other law enforcement organizations, Erie Police Department's youth programs such as the Police Athletic League and the Community Outreach Program will break down barriers and build positive relationships between the officers and participants. • Spoon's Summer Basketball League is returning for its 35th year. Spoon's League provides summer basketball for inner city youth at the Spoon's Courts, E. 19th Street between French and Holland streets and the Bayview Park Courts, W. 2nd St. between Cherry and Walnut Streets. • The YMCA Rodger Young Pool will again feature an open swim and recreation program, M-S, June 11-August 15.
