Creating Change was inaugurated in 1988, one year after the 1987 National March on Washington for "Lesbian and Gay" Rights and in response to LGBTQ+ activists' desire for a skills-building, mobilizing and planning space. And Creating Change addresses that need to this day - as a national organizing and training conference that organizers and activists could gather and teach each other - and build a stronger movement.
