In Our Own Write: Creative Writing for LGBTQ Elders

The University of Pittsburgh's Center for Creativity facilitates a FREE virtual creative writing workshop for LGBTQ "elders" (ages 50+) geared specifically toward those with little or no previous writing experience. Erik Schuckers facilitates the group. Register online at pi.tt/ioow23

The group will meet twice a week from June 8 to August 10 on Mondays and Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 PM via Zoom to explore writing around memory, family and community, the body, and more. We read and discuss contemporary pieces, write and share our own original work, and have the chance to meet virtually with publishing writers.

At the end, folks can share what they write through a collective (virtual) reading and a limited-edition chapbook distributed to all participants and archived in the University of Pittsburgh Library System.

While the program is based in Pittsburgh, this program is 100% online, and they've had participants from as far away as New Zealand attend. Members of the Erie LGBTQ community are welcome to attend as well!  Email any questions to creative@pitt.edu
