Please Contact US Senator Pat Toomey about Voting YES for the Equality Act!

Dear friends,

As members, friends, and allies of the LGBTQ+ community of Pennsylvania, you may all be aware that today the Equality Act passed the US House of Representatives. This Act amends the 1964 Civil Rights Act to prevent discrimination against LGBTQ+ people in areas of public life, such as employment and housing. Recent polling has shown upwards of 83 percent public support for the Act. President Biden has pledged to sign this Act when it passes Congress, so now is the best time to achieve this long sought now. The Act now heads to the Senate.

Here is where we need your help.

We are asking you to contact US Senator Pat Toomey to ask him to vote for the Act. (There is no need to contact US Senator Bob Casey as he is a cosponsor of the Act and has already announced he will vote for it.) Senator Toomey has been friendly to some other LGBTQ+ priorities, so we stand a decent chance at getting his vote, but we have to let him know that this is something we want and need. Please take a few moments and let Senator Toomey that you want him to vote for the Equality Act. You can do so in several ways.

By Email: https://www.toomey.senate.gov/contact/email-senator-toomey

By Phone: https://www.toomey.senate.gov/ The office locations and phone numbers are located at the bottom of the page. You can call any office, but it is often recommended to call the Washington office so that the staff in the capital who work close to the Senator can hear from Pennsylvanians directly.

By mail: This is an option, but should only be used if you cannot use the above options. Mail delays and screenings mean that letters take several weeks to be received, so only do this as a last resort. Send them to :The Honorable Patrick J. Toomey, US Senator, 348 Russell Senate Building, Washington, DC 20510.

Thanks for your attention to this important priority.
