National LGBTQ Task Force Statement re: Supreme Court Appointment Process

The following can be attributed to Rea Carey, Executive Director, National LGBTQ Task Force:

"We expected the Supreme Court nominee to be someone that will work to dismantle the rights of LGBTQ and other marginalized communities for decades, block reproductive and voting rights, threaten healthcare access for millions and more. We were right. With the November election already underway and our democracy on the line, we must work on two fronts: delay or stop this unfair, hypocritical process to fill the vacancy and mobilize like never before for this election and put individuals in the White House, the Senate and our statehouses that respect equality and fairness. Only a small portion of LGBTQ people who are eligible to vote chose to cast a vote in key states in the last election. Go to www.queerthevote.org to learn more about voter registration mail in voting, early voting, and in person voting."

The National LGBTQ Task Force advances full freedom, justice, and equity for LGBTQ people. We are building a future where everyone can be free to be their entire selves in every aspect of their lives. Today, despite all the progress we've made to end discrimination, millions of LGBTQ people face barriers in every aspect of their lives: in housing, employment, healthcare, retirement, and basic human rights.
