Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil on Nov 20
TransFamily of NW PA will host a candlielight vigil on Wednesday, November 20 at 6:30 PM on the step of the Erie County Courthouse, 140 W 6th St, Erie PA. **NOTE: This event will start promptly at 6:30 pm. We ask that you please arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes early to get a candle and join the vigil without disruption.
Trigger warning: This is a highly emotional experience. Please consider bringing some tissues
Please join the Erie transgender community as we gather to remember and honor the trans lives lost during the past year due to transphobia and hate. Even as our community gains more visibility, we also experience more targeted violence. 2018 is on track to count even more lost souls than last year. Events like this shine a light on the unspeakable violence that our community faces globally and raises awareness of just how vulnerable we are. I hope that you will come with open hearts to grieve the lost and to gain understanding of why it is so critical to stand up to transphobia wherever and whenever it occurs.
