Pennsylvania Equality Project President to Speak at Erie County Council Meeting on May 28 about Conversion Therapy Ban

Pennsylvania Equality Project President, David Moore, will address Erie County Council about the need for a ban on conversion therapy across all of Erie County. He will speak with Council at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

Conversion therapy is the pseudoscientific practice of trying to change an individual's sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual using psychological or spiritual interventions. There is virtually no reliable evidence that sexual orientation can be changed and medical bodies warn that conversion therapy practices are ineffective and potentially harmful.

While Mr. Moore applauds the City of Erie for advancing its ordinance to a second reading on June 5, he is concerned that the youth in the rest of the county need the same protection from harm.
