Harrisburg, PA - April 5, 2018 – Equality Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth's leading LGBTQ advocacy organization has endorsed Braddock Mayor John Fetterman for Lieutenant Governor during the state's upcoming Primary Election on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
"I am so incredibly proud to have received this endorsement. It really means the world to me. I am deeply grateful and honored," said Fetterman. "My career is first and foremost about making sure that forgotten Pennsylvanians have a voice, and LGBTQ people are absolutely a forgotten community in our Commonwealth. LGBTQ Pennsylvanians still don't have basic discrimination protection, and that's ridiculous! It is of the utmost importance to me that LGBTQ Pennsylvanians feel they can trust me to stand up for equality."

"Mayor Fetterman has pledged to work with Governor Tom Wolf, legislators, and community leaders across the Commonwealth to make sure LGBTQ Pennsylvanians are heard, respected, and treated fairly," said Equality Pennsylvania Interim Executive Director John Dawe. "His stalwart and proven support of LGBTQ equality makes him a candidate Equality Pennsylvania and LGBTQ Pennsylvanians should be proud to support."
In Fetterman's endorsement request, he wrote "Love is love is love, and I am proud to say that I stood on the right side of history for LGBT+ couples." As mayor, Fetterman received and ignored a cease and desist order from then-Governor Tom Corbett for performing same sex weddings in 2013, when Pennsylvania had not yet legalized marriage equality.
Equality Pennsylvania previously endorsed Governor Tom Wolf for Re-Election.
