Cynthia Nixon announces run for New York governor

Cynthia Nixon announced March 19 that she would be running for New York governor, challenging Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo in this year's Democratic primary. The 51-year-old actress has never served in office before, and will be running against an established encumbent. She is running as a progressive. Cynthia is married to longtime education organizer Christine Marinoni.
