Community Awareness Night on July 7

Crime Victim Center of Erie County is hosting our third installment of the FREE Community Awareness Night event on July 7, 2015 at All An Act Theatre, 652 W 17th St, Erie PA from 5 to 7 p.m.

Following the last ‘CAN' event, we compiled survey responses from more than 30 attendees and heard a common response of "Great Information" and "Very Helpful," but "How can I GET INVOLVED" or "What can I do to make a difference?" stood out the most. Therefore, this upcoming event will feature the topic of Cultural Awareness and Competency as well as Bystander Intervention Strategies.

As you may know, Erie PA's refugee population continues to grow and thrive with more than 3,350 being resettled between Oct. 2004 and Sept. 2014. In order to have a better understanding of which cultures make up this vibrant ‘Melting Pot' we call home, we will feature the Neighborhood Resource Organization (NRO) and International Institute.

The program will begin at 5 p.m. with 30 minutes to meet and greet, as well as enjoy light snacks and refreshments. At 5:30pm, the program begins with each agency presenting for a 30 minutes a piece and concluding the evening with questions and answers.
