Sen. Toomey Announces Ted Martin to Attend U.S. Army War College National Security Seminar

WASHINGTON, D.C. - April 2, 2015 – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) announced today the appointment by the U.S. Army War College of Ted Martin to the War College's National Security Seminar (NSS). The NSS, which will take place this spring, is a capstone event for all War College students and faculty.  

The NSS provides an examination of current national security issues and a dialogue that exposes participants to a variety of perspectives. 

"The U.S. Army War College is a renowned military education institution which is charged with honing its student's leadership techniques, research skills, and strategic thinking," said Sen. Toomey.  "One manner in which the War College does this is through the National Security Seminar (NSS), which allows military students to work with a diverse group of community leaders from across the country. 

"With this in mind, I am proud to announce that Ted Martin have been selected by the War College as two of the community leader participants for this year's prestigious NSS." 

Ted Martin is the Executive Director of Equality Pennsylvania, which is the state's leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) political advocacy organization. He began his career as Legislative Assistant and Deputy Chief of Staff of a subcommittee for the Education and Labor Committee of the US House of Representatives. Ted also serves on the board for several non-profit organizations.

To attend the NSS, all potential participants must first be nominated by prior NSS attendees, War College students, alumni, staff, faculty, the Army War College Foundation, as well as Civilian Aides to the Secretary of the Army. Ted Martin was nominated by Senator Toomey and State Director, Col. Robert DeSousa, a U.S. Army War College graduate and Officer in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
