Single Voice Reading Series: Inaugural Poet Richard Blanco

Inaugural Poet Richard Blanco will read his work at Allegheny College on January 30. Blanco is America's fifth inaugural poet, writing for President Barack Obama's 2013 inauguration ceremony. He's also the first Latino, first immigrant, first openly-gay and youngest person to be the inaugural poet for the United States.

His books include City of a Hundred Fires, Directions to The Beach of the Dead, and Looking for The Gulf Motel. In January 2013, Blanco was selected by President Obama to be the inaugural poet, joining the ranks of Robert Frost and Maya Angelou. His official website: richard-blanco.com
