Dale Allgeier

Dale Allgeier (he/him) I volunteer out of a deep desire to help others, my commitment to social causes, and to increase my connection to the community. I attended Mercyhurst University and obtained a Master of Social Work from West Virginia University. After moving back to Erie in 1992, I wanted to make a difference in people's lives and strengthen the LGBTQ+ community in any way I could. I opened Lake Erie Counseling Inc. in 1994, specializing in working with individuals, couples, and families in the LGBTQ+ community. This was the first practice to utilize a gay-affirming and empowering model and to directly market to our community. I have been a board member of Greater Erie Alliance for Equality (GEAE) and am currently on the advisory committee of the Area Agency on Aging. After hearing about the need for an organization for older LGBTQ+ folks multiple times, I got together with a few people and started Aging With Pride in 2023. I am so proud to see what this organization has grown into.
